The Sister’s Wish – The Mission of “The Sisters Wish” is to provide terminally or chronically ill young adults with a wish that will in some way improve their quality of life. Based in Maine, The Sisters Wish has granted 61 “wishes” to deserving young adults in Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. They focus on the age group from 18 – 30, as other charities that support children typically stop support when the children hit 18 years of age. Sister’s Wish was instrumental in enabling Matt to reach one of his bucket list items, traveling to Nike HQ in Oregon. http://www.thesisterswish.org/
MassGeneral Pediatric Hematology Oncology Clinic – This arm of the Yawkey Cancer Center offers multidisciplinary, comprehensive, and family centered care to children with all types of cancer. The clinical staff has expertise in treating leukemias, lymphomas, common solid tumors of childhood, neuroblastoma, bone and soft tissue sarcomas, retinoblastoma, and brain tumors. The staff there was essential in treating Matt and allowing him to survive nearly a year beyond the median for GBM patients. https://www.massgeneral.org/children/cancer
Defeat GBM Research Collaborative – A subsidiary of the National Brain Tumor Society, Defeat GBM provides funding to researchers to work on novel drug and treatment approaches to try and imrpove the lives of GBM patients. Since the median survival rate for GBM patients of 14.6 months has remained relatively consistent over the last 20 years, additional research is necessary to find new treatments and a cure for this most insidious cancer. http://defeatgbm.org/
